(September 27-October 3, 2008) From Mike Gebhardt: "Here is the video of the fastest sailor on the planet- kitesurfer Rob Douglas. This is the kitesurfing footage of the historical run on September 19, 2008 that brought kitesurfer Rob Douglas to an average speed of49.84 knots over a 500 meter course. The wind was blowing 25 to 30 knots average and gusting to 40 knots. Luderitz's "second lagoon" was set up with a flooding high tide that created very flat water conditions. Sebastian Cattelain can be seen making the second fastest run of the planet in the background. He missed beating Rob by less than a half of a second. Its official…kitesurfers are the fastest sailing craft on the planet."
