Racing Rules of Sailing Update
Published on October 2nd, 2024
As the National Governing Body for the sport of sailing, US Sailing produces Racing Rules of Sailing, Including US Sailing Prescriptions every four years. However, the new rules which will be in effect from January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2028, have hit a snag. Here’s the US Sailing update:
World Sailing published the new rulebook on its website in July, but a few errors and rule conflicts have come to light since then, and World Sailing will address those conflicts at its 2024 Annual Conference on November 4-9 in Singapore. Any changes deemed urgent will be approved as part of the racing rules that take effect in January.
We plan to release the mobile app version of the 2025-2028 rulebook in December 2024. This version will again be available at no charge to all US Sailing members and will reflect the changes made by World Sailing in Singapore. As it takes longer to produce the print version, we expect to begin distributing the books in January.
We will make every effort to get the 2025-2028 rulebook into the hands of every member who needs it as quickly as possible. We will keep you up to date through our regular communications channels, and in the future we will share information on how to get your copy of the printed book.
Thank you for your support of sailing and of US Sailing, and for your patience as we work through this delay.
