Gaining a measure for Los Angeles 2028
Published on March 31st, 2025
As one of Spain’s Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean, Mallorca ushers in the new Olympic sailing quadrennial at the 2025 Trofeo Princesa Sofía Mallorca on March 31-April 5. As nations gear up for the Los Angeles 2028 Games, this is the largest annual Olympic class regatta with nearly 800 boats and boards competing on the Bay of Palma.
“The Princesa Sofía Trophy is internationally recognized as the first real opportunity to benchmark performances on the global stage for the new Olympic Quad,” said US Sailing’s High Performance Director, Marcus Lynch. “It draws a clear line in the sand from which to build out further programming that supports continued athlete progression.”
A total of 19 Canadian sailors will take part while 29 athletes representing the US will spar with over 50 other countries at the 54th edition. Click links for updates from Sail Canada and US Sailing.
