Solar-Powered Boat Regatta in Monaco

After a highly successful first edition last year, the Yacht Club de Monaco was again host to a fleet of solar-powered boats for the Solar1 Monte Carlo Cup 2015.

Fifteen boats designed and built especially for the event by engineering students from six countries across Europe and Russia competed on July 11-12.

The scheduled included three events: an endurance race of 30 laps around a one nautical mile circuit on the open sea outside Port Hercule; a test of manoeuvrability skills on a slalom course in the YCM Marina; and one-on-one speed duels.
